Forgiveness!! How can we truly move forward when we hold anger in our hearts? It is difficult. And even though we may be pained by someone or a global injustice, or maybe someone just rubs us the wrong way, we must remember to always be driven by love and not hate. This morning's scripture readings are two. One from Isaiah 5:10-11 where Isaiah reminds us just like the rain pours down upon us to leave the soil fertile and fruitful for new growth, once God enters our lives, we are never left the same. He calls us to achieve the end for which he sent us.
The second reading is from Matthew 6:7-15. This is where Jesus shows us how to pray by teaching us the Lord's prayer. Deacon Art reminds us of the significance of the words "If you forgive their transgressions, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions."
This was a beautiful reminder to me because sometimes we can get caught up with all the injustices in our world - and yes, there are many; however, we make more progress toward correcting the wrongs when we do so in a manner that brings us together rather than drives us apart. This will make more sense, when you hear Deacon Art in this short clip of today's scripture reflection.
